Opis spektaklu
Grupa podróżnych znajduje się na pokładzie statku, którego cel podróży jest nieznany. Młody członek załogi postanawia zaprosić swoich współpasażerów do wspólnego opowiadania najbardziej znanej historii Voltaire’a, filozoficznej przypowieści o tytule „Kandyd”. Wychowany w zamku barona Kandyd to naiwny młodzieniec, który bardzo ufa swojemu nauczycielowi Panglossowi, który powtarza, że „wszystko będzie dobrze”. Zostaje wydalony z zamku, gdy na jaw wychodzi jego miłość do Kunegundy. Młodzieniec doświadcza burz wojny, katastrof spowodowanych przez naturę i ludzi oraz wielu innych nieszczęść, ale nigdy nie traci wiary w dobroć ludzi. Adaptacja tej opowieści łączy podróż antagonisty z czasami współczesnymi. Występują w nim kapryśne postacie. Jest to poetycka opowieść, a podróż przedstawiona jest poprzez teatr fizyczny, śpiew i muzykę na żywo. Adaptacja „Kandyda” zespołu Ima Collab jest pomysłowym i prowokującym do myślenia studium ludzkiego losu. Spektakl został stworzony przez nagrodzonego reżysera Chana Chu-hei z Hong Kongu (Chiny) i miał swoją premierę podczas Edinburgh Festival Fringe w 2023 roku. Otrzymał tam wyróżnienie w konkursie Asian Arts Award za najlepszą reżyserię.

Grupa Ima Collab
Ima Collab została założona w 2022 roku przez nagrodzonego reżysera Chana Chu-hei z siedzibą w Hongkongu, Chinach. Nazwa tej platformy współpracy oznacza „tworzenie obrazu”, „obrazowość” i „teraz”. Jej celem jest szkolenie nowego pokolenia twórców teatralnych poprzez współpracę między weteranami a aspirującymi praktykami teatralnymi. Ima Collab zadebiutowała przedstawieniem „Théâtre sans animaux” (Ribes) na festiwalu French May Arts w 2022 roku. A group of travellers are on board a vessel of which the destination is unknown. Looking around him, a young scholar decides to invite his fellow passengers to participate in the telling of Voltaire’s best-known story, Candide. Raised in the castle of a baron, Candide is a young naïve youth who believes in his tutor Pangloss who claims that “all is for the best.” He is expelled when his love for Cunégonde is exposed. He then experiences the turbulence of war, disasters caused by nature and human beings, and many other misfortunes, yet he never loses faith in the goodness of humanity. This adaptation is a devised ensemble theatre piece which links the antagonist’s journey to modern times. Featuring whimsical characters, poetic story-telling, voyages depicted through physical movements, singing and live music, Ima Collab’s rendition of Candide aims to be an imaginative and thought-provoking examination of the human condition. Adapted and created by Ima Collab with award-winning director Chan Chu-hei from Hong Kong, China, Candide premiered in Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023 and was awarded runner-up in the Asian Arts Award for Best Direction.

Ima Collab
Ima Collab was founded in 2022 by award-winning director Chan Chu-hei based in Hong Kong, China. The name of this collaborative platform signifies ‘image-making,’ ‘imagery,’ and ‘now.’ Its focus is on the training of the new generation of theatre makers by means of collaboration between the veterans and the aspiring theatre practitioners. Ima Collab made its début with ‘Théâtre sans animaux’ (Ribes) in French May Arts Festival 2022. Their recent devised work, ‘Candide,’ premiered in Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023 and was runner-up for Best Direction of Asian Arts Award.
